taking a neighbors planet..... help plz

im trying to over throw my neighbor(in an 1 on 1 war) my friend who showed me this site said i needed a colony ship so i built one i have already defeated his units but i dont know wat im doing wrong in trying to take his planet(i want to take it not destroy it)
someone plz tell me wat im doing wrong plz

you cannot take another persons planet you can only attack it for resources unless they delete their planet
