Jump Gates

What purpose does Jump gate level 2 have? Or any after for that matter?
Pointless to increase speed between jump..almost instant on level 1.
Distance? No! Can move through all galaxies.
If not as above ...what value?

It does not increase speed between jump and does not have any value, just lke developping ion and laser tech after that a certain level does not have any advantages...

Seems a bit expensive to find out!...I thought it might reduce the recharge time...? or let a certain amount of cargo through? Like I said..bit expensive to experiment with! ;)
